It was a three-day unforgettable adventure.
We started very early in the morning because our flight was leaving at 6:30.
The first surprise was the airport itself. Limoges-Bellegarde Airport (LIG) is one of the smallest airports we have been to.
It looks like a small aeroclub - which it actually is - but it has a full-sized runway and all the infrastructure to be an international airport. It is so small that the departure hall has been organised in that white, added tent...
Aneta immediately after landing contacted the company that was supposed to deliver our car. We left the airport very quickly, waited a moment, and our little car arrived. Another surprise! What a wreck!
The headlining hung cheerfully, looking a bit like a canopy fluttering in the wind. In the wind, because thanks to the fact that the air conditioning wasn't working and we were driving with the windows open, we could better feel the atmosphere of France.
Fortunately, the owner, Nazmi, turned out to be a very nice man. We drove to his house, where we completed all the formalities and were able to continue our journey.
We arrived in Limoges, parked in an underground car park in the very centre and went for... a coffee!
After coffee, we went for a wander around the city. Our destination was St. Stephen's Cathedral (Cathédrale Saint-Étienne de Limoges). However, before we reached it, we found a similar building - Église Saint-Michel-des-Lions. The cathedral inside looked as if it was about to topple over; the columns appeared to be crooked!
At the end of the film, a Polish motif appears - unfortunately very negative. Some primitive has scratched a message in Polish, and it even has a spelling mistake...
However, we left that behind and moved on. As you can see below, we really liked the streets...
We took a moment's break in an unused car park with a view of the town hall.
After a few more minutes, we reached the cathedral
For a while, we wandered around the park with a view of the cathedral and the museum...
...and then we went for a beer!
The place is called La Paninoteca - very nice service, great location, and everything would be fine if it weren't for the fact that there are still ashtrays placed on the table by the staff. People! It’s 2025 and you still allow smoking in restaurants!
The next place we wanted to get to was the market! As we walked towards it, we discovered interesting spots in the city.
And so we walked until we reached the Halles centrales. The friendly AI suggests that it is a true gem of architecture from the late 19th century, designed in a style reminiscent of the Baltard pavilions. It is located in the very heart of the city and is famous for its metal structure, burgundy bricks, and glass roofs. After its renovation in 2019, it has become not only a shopping destination but also a cultural and culinary space. What the AI does not mention is the smell that prevails inside.
After shopping, we went to the car park, where we checked the temperature in the shade (underground)
Next, we headed towards Chateauponsac and Auzillac, where we were to spend the next two nights.
We also stopped by the shop for a quick purchase
We arrived in Chateauponsac punctually at 14:00
And a moment later we were already at the destination. As soon as we got off the plane, I turned on the tracker:
We were tired from the heat, shopping, and the car journey without air conditioning. Each of us had barely slept the night before... But we were already at our destination, all that was left was to unpack and we could go to the pool!
And it would have been like that, if it weren't for a little accident. While Aneta and Zosia were talking to the owner, Kuba and I were unpacking the car. And as Kuba was coming in with the last packages, he hit his head on the door. In the photo below, you can see that they are terribly low.
Kuba cut his head so badly that we needed professional help. First, together with the owner Peter, we went to the local pharmacy, where the pharmacist suggested a visit to the hospital. What could we do?
Aneta, Kuba, and I went back to Limoges, to the hospital, where Kuba had seven stitches put in his head! Aneta and Zosia stayed at home, unpacked us, and made lunch.
It took us almost 4 hours, but we could finally go back and head to the pool!
You'll read more about our stay in this cottage and in the village HERE
On Monday we had to return. Around 3 PM we left this fantastic place. A little earlier we went to Rancon for frog legs - you can find out more about it HERE
Zanim oddaliśmy auto, zrobiliśmy sobie jeszcze mały piknik w lesie posilając się tak jak lubimy lokalnym jedzeniem i trunkami ;)
Do you still remember how I wrote that we rented a wreck? We didn't change our minds, that car should have been at the scrapyard a long time ago, BUT: we got to where we wanted, and for the first time, I think I didn't feel any stress while driving or parking. I wasn't worried about scratches or damage - that car couldn't be damaged any more than it already was. We returned it without any problems and Nazmi drove us to the airport. We didn't wait for anything, we didn't have to explain anything. It wasn't as bad as it seemed at first.
Na lotnisku okazało się, że nasz samolot jest opóźniony o 45 minut.
and on top of that it was very crowded
Fortunately, we managed to return home safely
and the trip leaders looked pleased, and I know very well that they had already planned another joint trip!
