The WENA Motor Museum in Oława is the largest private motor museum in Poland and one of the largest in Central Europe.
The museum has a collection of approximately 300 cars, 192 bicycles, and 100 motorcycles.
We arrived after about an hour and forty minutes of driving. First impressions? It's small!
Well, you don't even know how wrong I was. But I'll get to that in a moment.
Among the exhibits were both vintage vehicles from the early 20th century and modern sports cars. Each exhibit had its own unique story, which we eagerly learned about by reading the descriptions and listening to the guides..
In the museum, you can see, for example, a Ford Model T from 1914.
There are also many classic cars with low mileage
On the first floor, there is an exhibition of motorcycles and mopeds
and bicycles
In addition to vehicles, the museum also features a permanent exhibition "Life in the Polish People's Republic" (PRL), encompassing over 33 thousand items from that period.
A fascinating place is an apartment from the PRL era, where a full size Fiat 126 stands!
Right next to it is a beautiful model railway
Interesting additions are installations depicting a petrol station and a functioning grocery store from the era
While walking through the museum, we managed to meet the famous Mr Minister Leszek, a very positively quirky mechanic.
The Minister told us about the work that is ongoing at the museum and the problems with the parts for the P50 that they imported from England. In the end, he gave us a banknote with his likeness.
The exhibition dedicated to leisure in the Polish People's Republic also looks fantastic.
The museum has quite a large collection of Fiat 126p cars known as Maluchy. From time to time, a multimedia show takes place:
There is also a small workshop on the museum grounds, a cinema in an old bus, old (but still functioning) arcade machines, and many, many other attractions.
Muzeum ma swój kanał na YT.
Do you still remember how at the beginning of this article I mentioned that the place seemed small to me? We spent almost 2 hours in the museum and I have the impression that we didn't get to see everything. The museum is enormous, the number of exhibits, especially in the PRL section, is gigantic.
We left the museum feeling satisfied. We collectively agreed that coming here was a good idea. In the end, we bought ourselves fridge magnets in the local shop and concluded our visit to the museum.
We also drove to the centre of Oława for a traditional kebab and returned home. It was a successful day!
