Bryggeri Brewery is the northernmost brewery in the world. It was established in 2015 and is unique because it uses water from the melting Bogerbreen glacier for beer production. I had the opportunity to try their beers during my trip to Svalbard..
The idea of establishing a brewery in Longyearbyen was born in 2009. At that time, it seemed almost impossible, as Norwegian law prohibited commercial production of alcohol in Svalbard.
However, thanks to the determination and efforts of the founder, Robert Johansen, it was possible to bring about a change in the regulations, which opened the way to the realisation of dreams.
We visited the bar on the very first day of our stay on the island. We ordered a set consisting of five different beers. The glasses only had a capacity of 200ml each, but that was more than enough to try and compare different beer styles.
The best part is that each of us enjoyed a different beer!
