Slavutych is a unique town in northern Ukraine that was founded after the Chernobyl disaster as a new home for evacuated nuclear power plant workers and their families. It is located about 50 kilometres from the Chernobyl exclusion zone and is known as the youngest town in Ukraine, founded in 1986.
During our visit, Slavutych served as our base for exploring the Chernobyl contamination zone. We slept in a private house, which allowed us to experience the place more authentically. The city has a well-organised transport system, with one of the most important means being the train, which we used to travel to the contamination zone. This unique way of travelling allowed us to feel the atmosphere of the story even more.
Slavutych, despite its young age, has a rich history and cultural significance. The town's residents have shown incredible determination and strength, creating a community far removed from their former homeland. Our visit was not only an opportunity to explore the mysteries of Chernobyl, but also to understand the remarkable history and spirit of the place.

It was an unforgettable journey that brought us into close contact with a place of great significance in recent world history.
