Brighton is a vibrant seaside city located on the southern coast of England. Known for its colourful buildings, expansive beaches, and rich culture, it is a popular tourist destination and an educational hub.
Zosia is looking for the perfect university, and on this occasion, we went to Brighton to visit the University of Sussex
The weather was typically British. It was pouring!
Fortunately, we quickly got into the building and met the right people who showed us around the campus. We had the opportunity to meet many wonderful people and see the laboratories and lecture halls.
The university collaborates with many companies around the world, including NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA). Here, for example, is one of the panels identical to the one used in the James Webb Space Telescope.
And here is the large hadron collider
We were delighted by the laboratory equipment and the stories shared with us by the students and staff of the university...
.. and at least some of us
That day we were also in several lecture halls
I also had the opportunity to teach my favourite subject
I had quite a respectable audience
After visiting the university, we decided to see the city. We stopped at the car park by the friendly Topps Tiles store. Luckily, the weather improved!
We went to Harvester for lunch
After lunch, we went to the pier
Before entering, we bought ourselves ice cream
We paid a pound per person for entry to the pier
The pier itself, although it offers decent views, is a combination of a tacky fairground market and a rusty structure that you have to pay to enter. It’s the kind of attraction you can see once in a lifetime and never again!
We literally spent a moment there
and we went further to the beach
It was probably the first time we were at a beach where instead of sand there were gravel.
We spent a few moments on this beach until it started to get late...
We decided to end the day in Brighton and head to our rented cottage. On the way back, we took a few more photos.
The views along the way were stunning
The night passed peacefully, although the weather returned to its English nature. It was still pouring!
In the morning, before we left, we stopped by a small cove to see the sea. What was happening there! It was blowing terribly, just see for yourself!
On the way back, near Northampton, we got caught in a huge storm on the M1 motorway, at times we couldn't see anything!
Fortunately, we returned home safe and sound!

During our visit to Brighton, we had the opportunity to tour one of the local universities. It was an inspiring and educational time. The university campus was full of modern buildings and facilities that made a huge impression on us. We met with several students who shared their experiences and academic life. The visit to the university showed us how rich in opportunities this city is and how important a place it holds in higher education in the United Kingdom..
Brighton has left us with many wonderful memories. It is a vibrant city that uniquely combines modernity with history and culture. I hope that in the future we will have the opportunity to return and discover even more of its charms.
