Å is a small fishing village that relies on fishing and stockfish. In recent years, the village has been visited by an increasing number of tourists. The town has two museums related to the history of fishing..
Sometimes, to distinguish it from a number of other places in Norway named Å, this village is called Å and Lofoten (Norwegian: Å i Lofoten). The name Å means stream, brook, or creek..
We stopped at a picturesque marina in Svolvær.
Choć na zdjęciach tego nie widać, to pogoda była okropna, strasznie wiało, do tego jakieś prądy morskie wpychały nas do mariny.
The wind prevented us from setting sail again. According to the forecasts, the weather was not expected to improve for another two days. What to do in such a situation? We decided to hire a car! We managed to get a van for 9 people.
A quick analysis of the map and we already had a plan in mind. We're going to Å!
The views were stunning!
We stopped a few times along the way.
One of the stops we had was in Anita's Sjømat. It's a kind of shop/restaurant by the road.
When we finally arrived, we did what every self-respecting tourist must do:
Photo against the entrance sign!
In the town itself, it's bustling, with many tourists.
There are two museums, stilt houses, the sea, mountains, and views!
There is a house covered in bird droppings
There is also a Polish bit - a sign with the inscription BRODNICA 1480 km
and that's probably it.
We decided to climb the mountain.
It wasn't easy
It was worth it. The views were stunning!
View of the other side of the mountain
This is a shot from one of the intersections. Doesn't it resemble a view from a calendar?
On the way back, we stopped in the small village of Reine. In the Gammelbua restaurant, where an Italian woman who spoke Polish was working (!)
I ordered whale steaks...
..and reindeer tartare with quail egg!
We washed it all down with local beer.
Well, that's how it was in this Å
And we took this photo on the way back
