I visited the museum during my trip to Svalbard.
Upon arriving in Longyearbyen, our first steps were directed to our cottage. We left our luggage, repacked what was necessary, and went to the Museum.
The museum is located in that red building in the bottom left corner of the photo. Look at those amazing views! We were completely enchanted!
The first thing that surprised us was the bicycles! There were quite a few in front of the museum. The museum is located in the same building as the university, so it’s likely that students use the bicycles to get to their classes.
Second surprise - at the entrance, we had to take off our shoes and we explored the entire museum in our socks! In the video below, apart from us getting undressed, you can see what can be bought in the shop by the museum.
